A new client [Jun. 22nd, 2007|09:02 am]
[mood | cheerful]

I’m testing a new client called ByteScout Post2Blog
and I don’t quite know yet how it all works but I’m
trying it out. It seems to handle any number of
blogs so it’s not limited to say live journal. It’s
got tons of shit in it for editing anything you can
think of. I’ll try and add the link for you but I
can’t promise I’ll add it Bytescout Post2Blogcorrectly.

A New RSS Reader [Nov. 22nd, 2006|09:46 pm]
[mood | cheerful]

I've been using sharpreader for quite a while but have been looking for a new replacement since I was not able to group my feeds in to folders. The way sharpreader is designed it will probably let you drag and drop on to folders but this is not real workable for a blind person. I just installed a new rss reader called Snarfer which is freeware and it lets me cut and paste feeds to folders so I was able to organize them. It's terrific. If your looking for a new rss reader give Snarfer a try. It can be found at:
Snarfware
It's pretty cool and I really like it.

Run for Your Life! It’s the 50 Worst Songs Ever! [Oct. 16th, 2006|07:59 am]
[mood | calm]

You may want to take a look at the following page. It's interesting to read the charts on this page. It shows what the Authors consider the 50 worst songs of all time. While I agree with many of these I can't agree with all of them but this is certainly an interesting perspective. There are also other charts here of interest. Check these out at:

Aaron's Web Vacuum [Jul. 28th, 2006|04:49 pm]
This is kind of a cool program. It allows you to download stuff from web sites such as .jpg, .gif, .avi, .mpg, .mp3, .pdf, .txt, .exe, and much more. You can define your own extensions for Aaron's Web Vacuum to download and you can remove extensions that your not interested in. It's freeware for the most part but the Author does say that after 30 downloads the program pauses for 5 secs between downloads thereafter unless you want to pay the 24.95 or so which will remove this limitation. Perfectly speech friendly I find and somewhat useful. I haven't looked at lots of web pages but for the most part it seems to work good. Of course big sites take a long time to download as there are usually hundreds of pictures. Check this one out at:

Djc's Jukebox Is History [Nov. 20th, 2005|11:40 am]
[mood | cheerful]

After 6 years as a broadcaster on the Internet I've decided at least for the moment to call it quits. I certainly enjoyed every second on the net and I wish all broadcasters that continue the best of success. Of course I'll continue to do Podcasting projects so keep this page bookmarked. I'd like to thank all the people who supported me during the past 6 years and it was fun doing every show.

Well I'm sure happy to report that I have a new 2.8 gig computer with a 300 gig hard drive. I have a terrific video card called the Ati All-In-Wonder which will let you listen to fm and tv and such. I can even record my fav programs. This machine is real fast. It's pretty cool.

New Ventrilo [Jul. 20th, 2005|02:09 pm]
[mood | cheerful]

This new ventrilo is slick. You can now pan each voice so it's stereo. There are lots of other great effects as well such as reverb and chorus and flang and echo. The latest ventrilo is 2.3.0 and you can pick it up:
Here
It's great And there is also a new ventrilo server as well. These are not backward compatible so you will need to uninstall any older versions of ventrilo first.

New Skype Beta [Jun. 11th, 2005|09:05 am]
[mood | cheerful]

They have a new beta of Skype out their now and they fixed the log in issue so now it works correctly. One thing I do like with this new beta is now they made the buttons for the voice mail accessible and also they allow you to change any of the wave files for the different sounds including the comes online sound. One note about the wave files. They do need to be 11.25 Hz to play correctly. I found by using 22.50 they broke up a bit but when I resampled them down to 11.25 they played correctly. This is cool because the default sound they give you can be barely heard. Check out Skype here:

Sharp reader [Jun. 8th, 2005|08:46 pm]
[mood | cheerful]

I've been playing around with a great rss client called sharp reader. This client uses the standard explorer interface and you just ad the rss feeds your interested in. You can then sort the list from a-z if you want and as different rss feeds are updated you can read the title of the story and then tab once to a web page and hit return on the link to read the full text of the story. It minimizes itself to the systray so if your out and you come home you can have several hundred items waiting for you. You just delete the items your not interested in. Check it out from:

It's great and works terrific.
Also you can have it scan web pages for rss feeds and you can read rss feeds without subscribing to them.

Skype Beta [Jun. 7th, 2005|08:47 am]
[mood | annoyed]

Well they released a beta of Skype but it's sure unstable on this system. When I try and log in it won't log in. We checked the port and found that it was using an odd port so we changed the port to the standard 52727 but for me that didn't solve the issue. Also apparently the contact list is now stored on their servers and it was suggested if it didn't log in to kill the skype folder in the applications data folder under documents and settings. I tried that but still no luck. Hopefully they will get this fixed soon. One thing I do like about the new beta is if your a paid subscriber as I am you can leave a voice mail message to anyone even if they are not a paid subscriber. The regular Skype won't do this. If you'd like to ad me please feel free. my skype name is djc123 and I'll be happy to say hello to you. Here's the link to pick up skype if you don't have it already.

RIAA's Podcasting Position [May. 13th, 2005|04:37 pm]
[mood | annoyed]

On the daily Source Code of May 13th, Adam Curry Read the following statement concerning Podcasters and whether they have the authority to play copyrighted music. I'll do my best to quote word for word as Adam reads this:

Statement From The RIAA Concerning Podcasters

"We are always supportive of new and exciting ways for fans to discover and experience music. Podcasters, like the users of any other sound recordings must obtain the appropriate licenses from the copyright owners or their designate's. Appropriate licensing is an important part of the legal system setup to protect musicians, songriters and copyright owners. Podcasts are downloads and as such do not qualify for the statutory licenses that are available to webcasters, simulcasters, satellite radio, and other digital transmission services."

There you have it as Adam explains it. This means if you do a Podcast you can only play original music or what Adam is calling Pod Safe Music. If I play a song by the Beatles do I think I'd get away with it probably at this sec sure but probably not for long. Soon internet radio is going to all sound like shit because the small broadcaster and podcaster won't be able to afford the licenses and that's exactly what the big corperations want. It sure will be a damn shame when this happens.

Crazy Weather Here [May. 9th, 2005|03:47 pm]
[mood | cheerful]

We have these days in Sacramento where it's rainy one minute and sunny the next. Today my weather radio has been ringing all afternoon and I've heard a few claps of thunder. This morning I was on the street when the rain came down. It was raining hard. We've even been known to have tornados but this is rare for this area. Thunder here is extremely rare.

RSS2.0 Script Generator [May. 9th, 2005|01:33 pm]
Here is an rss2.0 script generator that will allow you to post your podcast. You still of course will need a place to host it but you can set it all up for free through the following link so if you don't have say a feedburner account but just a journal such as livejournal this will work. This is for use with podcasting. Check this out at:
Rss2.0 Script Generator
I am real pleased now with Semagic. I have it all customized the way I want. You can turn things off so that it's exactly the way you want it to be. Real nice client here.

More on Semagic [May. 9th, 2005|08:49 am]
I know that these entries are short but I am running quite a number of tests on this client. I do like it quite a bit and I think I'll go with it because unlike lochjournal this one doesn't error when you send out the post. Lets try a url again and see if we can figure out how to alt-tag it.
oldiesradionet
I got it. When you type control-m you get a window with a few fields. The url doesn't require the http so don't put that in. Just type The web site you want to ad. You can then tab over and you will see a text field. This is where the alt-tag goes. There is a title box but leave that one blank. Also there is a box to check to have the url open in a new window so you will want to check that as well.
